Mortal Kombat 1: Liu Kang's Spectacular Fatality
Mortal Kombat 1 fans have already chosen a favorite Fatality after the latest trailer for the fighting game’s upcoming installment dropped earlier this week. Geras is back, and this time, he’s got a killer new sand-based finisher that’s sure to leave your opponents (virtual ones, at least) envious of your skills. But while Geras’s finisher is certainly nothing to scoff at, it pales in comparison to the magnificence of Liu Kang’s latest Mortal Kombat 1 finisher, which sends your opponent hurtling into space, only to be torn apart by a black hole.
Mortal Kombat 1’s latest trailer gave us a glimpse at the many fighters that will be appearing in developer Netherrealm Studios’ latest fighting game. Alongside fan favourites like Geras and Mileena, we also saw the return of Liu Kang, who is looking more powerful than ever before.
In the short clip, we see Liu Kang send his opponent flying into the sky, before he teleports after them and shoots them with a fireball. The opponent explodes, and Liu Kang catches them before teleporting them into a black hole. The opponent is sucked into the abyss, and Liu Kang casually walks back to the ground as the Earth reappears around him.
“Space… Fire… Black hole…” one Redditor writes, summing up their feelings on Liu Kang’s finisher with a helpful list. The post, which simply shows off the clip with a lot of upvotes and positive responses, has garnered more than 1,300 upvotes at the time of writing.
“LK’s fatality is the best in the game,” another Redditor replies. Another user shares a video of the Fatality, and declares it the best in the game.
Of course, not everyone agrees. “I’m sure a lot of people will claim this is the best fatality just because of Liu Kang,” one user replies. “But honestly, I’m not a fan of it.” Other replies are simply gifs of people facepalming. While not all fans are on board, Liu Kang’s new finisher has certainly sparked discussions about the fighter’s power, and the greatness of the Fatality itself.
The latest trailer also shows off many other fighters and their unique finishers. In one scene, Sonya Blade uses her stinging whip to send Mileena flying into a crowd of onlookers, who then proceed to beat her up. Meanwhile, Geras uses his powers to grind his opponent down over time.
The overall reaction to Liu Kang’s Fatality is clear: it’s already the most talked-about, and it’ll be difficult to surpass. While no official release date for MK11 has been announced, you can check out all the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 DLC that’s already been revealed, or get involved in some friendly competition with some of the best fighting games on PC.
