The Nvidia RTX 4060: A comprehensive comparison with other graphics cards

Before you rush out and buy an Nvidia RTX 4060, you should arm yourself with all the information you need to make the right decision. We’ve already taken an in-depth look at the new GPU, but we’ve gone one step further and pitted it against seven other graphics cards to help you get a complete picture. The Nvidia RTX 4060 is undoubtedly the best graphics card for your PC right now, but the question is whether or not it’s the best for you. To help you find the answer, we’ve put the GPU through its paces in head-to-head fights with other graphics cards, using independent benchmark analysis to give you the only objective view of performance available.

Here are the other graphics cards we’ve used for comparison:

Here are the best graphics cards:

The Nvidia RTX 4060 specs

The Nvidia RTX 4060 specs are as follows:

The RTX 4060 is the latest addition to Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace range and sits above the RTX 3060. It’s the first graphics card to use the new Turing 2 architecture, meaning it benefits from innovations such as Variable Rate Shading.

While the RTX 4060 doesn’t feature the same number of CUDA cores and shader units as the RTX 4060 Ti, it does have a higher pixel fill-rate, as well as support for faster GDDR6 memory.

We’ve already taken a look at some of the other features available in the new GPU, such as support for DLSS 3, but for the sake of completeness, we’ll quickly touch on these once more.

Other features include support for Variable Rate Shading, which increases performance at lower resolutions, and Deep Learning Super Sampling, which uses artificial intelligence to enhance image quality, resulting in higher frame rates.

Nvidia RTX 4060 performance

Here are the results of our graphics card comparison:

When compared to the RTX 3060, the RTX 4060 offers better performance, but the difference isn’t quite as significant as the jump between the two generations. On the other hand, the RTX 3060 Ti is still the better card overall, especially when it comes to efficiency.

In some tests, the RTX 4060 outclasses the RTX 3070, but it’s still a little behind the Ti variant. The newer graphics card is also more power-efficient, which means it’ll use less electricity, generating less heat in the process.

The RTX 4060 Ti is undoubtedly the better GPU, featuring a higher shader count and better overall performance. However, you’ll need to stump up more for it, and it’s worth bearing in mind that the RTX 4060 is still a powerful card in its own right.

Ultimately, the decision between the two Nvidia RTX 4060 variants comes down to price, with the cheaper option offering a good return on investment. In terms of features, both support DLSS 3, and you’ll be able to play the same games on both.

And that’s it for our Nvidia RTX 4060 review, but check back soon as we’ll be bringing you more graphics card reviews in the near future.
