Ayaneo Kun
Ayaneo Kun is coming soon, as the upcoming contender to the Steam Deck crown boasts a larger 8.4-inch screen, a larger 75 Wh battery, and an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U ‘Phoenix’ processor. The device also packs in more gaming controls, as Ayaneo focuses on quality and variety in this regard.
The “high-end masterpiece” handheld boasts larger dimensions than the Steam Deck, and Ayaneo focuses on controls for this reason. Controls include a dual intelligent touchpad, back buttons, D-pad, joystick, and trigger, with a built-in kickstand, stereo speakers, and AyaSpace 2 UI also on board.
Ayaneo Kun boasts a built-in kickstand.
Ayaneo Kun also offers face recognition and a white silk, black feather, or silver wing color options. Pricing, configurations, and full specifications will be revealed at the end of August, but Ayaneo tells us to expect the handheld to be pricey.
“Early bird pricing and special gift box options will be announced at the end of August,” Ayaneo tells us. This is certainly true of the Steam Deck, which starts at $399 (£349) and comes with a Steam Controller and the Deck Box case.
Ayaneo was previously in the headlines for the Ayaneo Air 1S Ultra, a thin and light AMD Phoenix handheld with a 5.5-inch screen. That device boasted impressive battery life, as the company says it put “top priority on battery” for Ayaneo Kun. The larger 75 Wh battery is nearly double the size of the Steam Deck’s and offers impressive longevity.
This larger battery and cooling system also play a role in Ayaneo Kun’s “strongest heat dissipation among Windows handhelds,” as it utilizes a large main fan and three copper heat pipes.
We’ll update with more details on Ayaneo Kun when they become available, but stay tuned with everything that matters in handheld gaming technology right here.
