Games That Tickled My Funny Bone

Have you ever played a game that genuinely made you laugh out loud? I’m sure we’ve all had those ‘ha ha’ moments that make us chuckle as we play, but have you ever burst with laughter? I’ve played many funny games, but I can’t think of any that had me literally doubled over with mirth.

To get to the bottom of this, I’ve put together a list of some of the funniest games on PC, along with a few anecdotes from my time spent playing them. I’ve also included plenty of reader suggestions, so if you’ve got one you’d like to add, please do so in the comments section below.

The Stanley Parable

This one popped up in the comments and instantly made me laugh. One reader said: “I would have picked The Stanley Parable. It’s got plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.” And they’re not wrong, because I remember playing this back when it first came out, laughing so hard I actually thought I was going to have an asthma attack.

Others chimed in, agreeing The Stanley Parable is indeed a comedic masterpiece. “The Stanley Parable, for sure,” one said. “Most of the times I laughed out loud it was because of the narration and the meta humour.” Another added, “So good, so clever, and so funny.”

South Park games

I remember seeing the South Park games on the shelf at Blockbuster and thinking they looked absolutely ridiculous. I was so very wrong. The Stick of Truth was a revelation and I loved Fractured But Whole even more. Just hearing the music from the introductory sequence of the first South Park game on N64 makes me laugh, it’s that good.

One user reminisced about the 1998 South Park game on N64, saying, “I remember I played this game non-stop with my friends at the time. It was such a fun, funny game that made me laugh quite a bit.” Another shares their side-splitting experience with the underpants gnomes boss fight in “Stick of Truth.”

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

The Yakuza series is full of wacky humor, and Like a Dragon was no exception. One user says, “Yakuza is always a good laugh. Whenever I do a mission that involves the Tojo Clan, it never fails to make me laugh.” Another responds, “Same, especially when I summon Nancy-Chan.”

Conker’s Bad Fur Day

The N64 version of Conker’s Bad Fur Day is a title I played a lot when I was younger, and I still find it hilarious to this day. One user says, “Conker’s Bad Fur Day on N64. All the jokes were cheesier and more cartoony than the remake, but it’s still a hilarious experience.”

Portal 2

“Portal 2’s narration is always spot on,” one user says. “The Cave was also really good.” Another replies with, “I also really liked the narration of The Cave, but I thought Portal 2 was really funny.”

Deadpool’s game

I don’t know if this counts as a game, but it was a short yet laughter-inducing experience. One user says, “I had a weirdly deep emotional connection with Deadpool’s game so I guess that was pretty funny?”

Disco Elysium

“Disco Elysium was a game that had plenty of laugh-out-loud moments,” one user says. “Especially with its quirky and witty dialogue.” Another also recommends the game, saying, “Disco Elysium was a lot of fun, especially when you find the weird ones, like the one where you’re a cat.”

West of Loathing

“The humor in West of Loathing is so well written,” one user says, “and the world is so colorful and funny that I’m always laughing.” Another replies: “The humor in West of Loathing is so well written. And the world is so colorful and funny that I’m always laughing.”

Guardians of the Galaxy

Another hilarious Marvel game, this time based on the Guardians of the Galaxy series. One user shares their experience with the game, saying, “I really enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy. I thought the dialogue was funny, and the combat was pretty fun, despite the platforming being a bit finicky.”

Classic games

We had plenty of classic games mentioned, with many talking about the funny writing of games like Grim Fandango and Monkey Island. “Grim Fandango was, and still is, a classic game with perfect comedy,” one user says. Another adds, “Monkey Island 1 and 2. I still remember all the jokes.”

Undertale

“Undertale was so funny and so clever,” another user says.
