When’s it out? Coming soon
It’s been an absolutely packed Future Games Show 2019, but now it’s time for the Summer Showcase. If you missed the big PC Games Showcase livestream, never fear – here are all eleven trailers for upcoming PC games, which we’ve split up into manageable chunks, with a bit of helpful waffle thrown in.
To keep things nice and simple, the Future Games Show Summer Showcase schedule suggests that the Xbox and Starfield showcases are happening on Sunday, but the PC Gaming Show itself will rotate between different publishers on Monday. As of right now, Ubisoft and Capcom will be hosting PC-focused showcases on that day, but we’ll update this article if any other big names announce that they, too, have a new game to show off.
Anyway, that’s enough from me, you came here to look at these trailers, so let’s dive right in. These are the eleven best PC game trailers from the Future Games Show Summer Showcase.
Star Trucker
Announced a few days before the showcase, Star Trucker is an upcoming Euro Truck Simulator game set amongst the stars. Featuring a universe littered with all kinds of strange and interesting locations, as well as a fully-voiced cast of characters, I spent some hands-on time with Star Trucker back in 2020, and it’s still delightfully charming despite all the new additions.
Lords of the Fallen 2
From the creators of the dedicated Soulslikes, Lords of the Fallen 2 is an action RPG inspired by the Souls series. Soulslikes are sort of eternal repeats of battle, with different outcomes and ‘tales’ in each loop. Lords of the Fallen 2 uses very similar mechanics in an all-new parallel worlds system that branches off shortly after the game begins and runs throughout every fight. Wickedly fun in combat, incredibly gory, and perfect for fans of the genre, Lords of the Fallen 2 is coming to Steam on October 12.
New Cycle
While some of the worlds in Star Trucker are outlandish, New Cycle’s post-apocalyptic environment feels oddly genuine. Set in the aftermath of an enormous solar flare, players find themselves commanding a new city in a wasteland with different priorities than before. While this management game stays true to its city-builder roots and you won’t be doing a whole lot of combat other than defending your newly-built city, every new delivery poses its own unique set of problems – one joyous new arrival might also have brought a deadly infection. With a brutally harsh winter setting in and ever-increasing depravation and violence due to the lack of electricity, this looks like one of the grimmest – and most compelling – survival games on the horizon right now.
Luto
If, like me, you are a sucker for a clever horror game then you may have downloaded Luto’s Steam demo already. A psychological foray into a world corrupted by infection, this is essentially Silent Hill on a drug trip. As a researcher, your task is to enter the outskirts of a town where everyone was infected – but possible cover-ups and endless questions open up as you wander around this disturbing area, peeling back more mysteries with every step.
Reveil
Another psychological thriller, Reveil drops players into the gloomy confines of a sinister circus. With stunning pixel animation, soft lighting, and an uneasy ambiance, Reveil is like taking my favorite parts of the scrapped gameplay of Deadly Circus and splicing it with Seikens of the Watchers. Reveil earned itself a nomination in our best indie games of 2022 feature, and with a sinister presence beckoning from within the grounds of the twisted funfair, there’s no doubt this will be closing in on top status when it finally makes it to PC.
Laika: Aged Through Blood
With just a few minutes of gameplay footage to go on, we can already confirm that Aged Through Blood is stunning. A post-apocalyptic motorvania game that drops us into the stilettos of a Mother Coyote with a gun and a grudge, Aged Through Blood presents a wide open world that isn’t afraid to be beautifully barren.
Lush, layered graffiti covers abandoned high schools and restaurants, while US soldiers patrol the roads and corruption spreads like a particularly nasty infection. The sparse gameplay footage we saw shows off a huge arsenal of weapons at our furry companion’s fingertips, including pistols and crossbows, as well as the ability to summon ghostly apparitions and transform into
