Pseudoregalia
It’s hard to put into words just how gorgeous Pseudoregalia is. Developer rittzler, who is primarily known for their work on game jam prototypes, has released their first game on Steam, and it’s a beauty. You play as Sybil, who finds herself in a surreal castle within the realm of sleep. It’s up to you to help her find her way back home, but it won’t be easy.
Pseudoregalia focuses on platforming and exploration, allowing you to unlock new abilities and solve challenges in creative ways. There’s no need to follow a specific order of actions – the game lets you explore the world in any way you see fit. This is just the first step for rittzler, who has already announced their next game, Electrokinetic, a roguelike 3D platformer where you can create your own moveset.
With a playtime of approximately 2-4 hours, Pseudoregalia is short but sweet, allowing you to replay it several times over. I’ve only played it once so far, but I can already tell that it’s a game I’ll be coming back to in the future. Steam reviews are overwhelmingly positive as well, with a 97% thumbs-up rating.
There are some negative reviews that mention the lack of a map, but I didn’t find this to be a significant drawback. If you’re looking for something a little more grand in scope, here are the best PC games currently available.
