Sea of Thieves Sunken Merfolk Statues

Want to know more about Sea of Thieves’ Sunken Merfolk Statues? The mechanic involving these statues allows you to send treasure to the depths of the ocean, but there’s more to them than meets the eye.

There are two types of Siren Shrines in Sea of Thieves: puzzle rooms and treasuries. The Sunken Merfolk Statues can be found in all types of shrines, and they can be used to send treasure to the surface. Here’s everything you need to know about them, including the way to store them and what happens to the treasure you’ve collected.

How to use Sunken Merfolk Statues

To store treasure at the statue, bring it to the statue and hold the Y button. Each statue can store up to 20 pieces, but you can store less if you place small treasure inside openable chests. Here’s the breakdown:

  • When you’re ready to retrieve the treasure, bring the treasure chest to the statue by holding the Y button. A purple Mermaid will appear on the water’s surface near your ship, and your Merfolk will retrieve the treasure.
  • The purple Mermaid only appears above the shrine you just finished, so if your ship is sunk elsewhere, you have to return to that shrine. Additionally, enemy players can’t interact with your Merfolk or steal your treasure, but the treasure will be waiting for you at the shrine, even if the ship that sank you is still there.

That’s everything you need to know about Sea of Thieves Sunken Merfolk Statues. For other guides, be sure to check out our Sea of Thieves tier list, our Sea of Thieves review, and our Sea of Thieves guide to all the different types of enemies.
