One of the first Sea of Thieves tall tales sees you team up with Jack Sparrow to find a Treasure. It also takes you to some new areas, and there are a bunch of commendations to find along the way. To start A Pirate’s Life, head to any outpost and find the Castaway on the beach. You’ll vote on the next tale and head out on your ship.
The tall tale begins with the Cursed Captain appearing on your ship’s radar. He’ll tell you about his treasure and the Portal of the Damned, which will lead you to it. Sail to the green light in the sky, which marks the opening of the portal. Sail into the Sea of the Damned and you’ll have to navigate through a series of rooms, completing puzzles. The Cursed Captain will lead you to a skeleton with a handle, which you’ll need to use to open a door. Light lanterns, interact with devices, and raise platforms to progress through the rooms. You’ll eventually open the gate to the city, at which point the Cursed Captain will ask you to drop him off at the center of the city.
Light the brazier and head to the center of the city. The Cursed Captain will reveal himself and attack you, along with several skeleton pirates. Cut down the Cursed Captain and you’ll find a key in the tavern, which you’ll use to unlock his cage.
The Cursed Captain will lead you to the treasure. You’ll follow clues to find it, first by placing the Cursed Captain’s skull on a table with skeletons playing chess. The skeleton will lead you to a treasure chest, where you’ll place the skull and open a door to collect gold.
The Cursed Captain will once again lead you to a chess game, this time with a treasure on the table. Follow clues to find the location of the treasure’s hiding place. You’ll end up back at the chess game, where you’ll place the treasure on the table. Open the door and you’ll find a room with several skeletons and gold.
The Cursed Captain will lead you to the lighthouse, where you’ll light braziers. Follow his instructions to find the key. Light the braziers again to reveal a key on the tattered sails. Angle the sails to light the final brazier and complete the tall tale.
