A local electronics store gives away Pelican controllers for free

Is the Pelican controller really that bad? After a user shares their story about receiving one for free from a local electronics store, others share their own experiences, both good and bad, with the controller. Is it really as bad as they say? We decided to dig deeper into the controller’s issues, as well as the strange stories shared by users over the years.

“The store remained silent when I asked them about the controller’s issues,” the original poster writes. “It looked like it had been used for years and then just put on a shelf.” Despite some concerns, the user recalls the controller being in surprisingly good condition, except for the missing turbo button.

“I’m playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced and the characters all have this really depressed vibe,” they write. Playing the game with the Pelican controller seems like it would add a layer of realism to the already depressing game, but a funny comment about it being “cumtroller” adds a bit of lightheartedness to the discussion.

Despite some lighthearted comments, there is an overwhelming sense of skepticism about the controller’s durability. “I’m pretty sure it’s not going to last more than a few days of gaming,” one user writes, while another says, “I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but I would say it’s like uncomfortable shoes – you can wear it for a few days, but you won’t want to.”

“I’m actually excited about the Steam Deck but I need to test the Pelican controller,” another user writes. “I really want to see if it’s actually usable.” Others suggest using a Logitech controller instead, which seems like a much better alternative.

There’s also a debate about the Pelican brand in general and why it has such a poor reputation among users. “I think it’s the brand. Kids are more likely to play with anything that’s branded,” one user writes, while another says, “It’s a matter of sibling dynamics. Sometimes, you just have to give in and let your younger siblings play with your expensive stuff.”
