Aim for 140 characters, you do not have to modify it if it is already around 140 characters

What are some of your favorite video game voice actors and their movie cameos? We live in a time where voice actors in Video Games are enjoying tremendous recognition for their performances. Some of these actors have even gone on to appear in films, so I thought it would be interesting to highlight some of the most surprising movie appearances by video game voice actors.

Nolan North

While Nolan North is best known for his voice work in popular video games, including the Uncharted series, the Destiny games, and more, he’s had some surprising movie roles over the years.

North has made cameo appearances in both animated and live-action films. You might have spotted him in The Super Mario Bros Movie as one of the reporters, or you might remember him as the ill-fated driver in the first The Avengers movie. He’s also appeared in films like Sharknado 2 and Sharknado 4, as well as The Help.

Charles Martinet

Mario is one of the most instantly recognizable video game characters of all time, and the man behind that unmistakable Italian accent is Charles Martinet. He’s been voicing Mario since the 1990s, and has also worked on other Mario games, including Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Super Mario Maker.

Despite his success in the world of video games, Martinet has had a surprising number of movie appearances. He made a cameo in the live-action Turbo movie, and also appeared in The Princess and the Frog. He even had a voice role in The Super Mario Bros Movie, but to be honest, his performance in that film is a bit of a missed opportunity.

Colleen O’Shaughnessey

Colleen O’Shaughnessey is another iconic video game voice actor with a surprising number of movie cameos. She provided the English voice of Tails in the Sonic games for several years, and also did some voice work for the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie.

Since then, she’s been in a number of Studio Ghibli, Disney-Pixar, and anime movies. She appeared in Spirited Away as the Town Hall Elder, and also voiced a character in Howl’s Moving Castle. She also appeared in The Little Mermaid as the Sea Witch, and played a character in both The Princess and the Frog and Big Hero 6.

Steve Blum

Steve Blum is known for his distinct voice and has lent his talents to numerous video games over the years. He’s perhaps most recognizable as the voice of the iconic Transformer, Soundwave, and has also played characters in the Transformers series. In 2019, he played the role of Wes Garner in the latest Transformers game, War For Cybertron.

Outside of the Transformers franchise, Blum has appeared in numerous films and TV shows. He played Destro in the G.I. Joe movies, and also appeared in 2019’s Shazam. In the sci-fi movie Real Steel, he played a character named Turk, and appeared in the short-lived series, Gotham.

Troy Baker

Another instantly recognizable voice, Troy Baker is one of the most iconic video game actors out there. He’s voiced iconic game characters including Joel in The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, and has had roles in several Elder Scrolls games.

Baker has also appeared in high-profile movies, including Real Steel, The Phoenix Incident, and more. He had a brief cameo in the hit film Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, and in the TV show Shameless, he played a character with the same name as his Booker DeWitt character from BioShock Infinite.

Tara Strong

Tara Strong is one of the most influential female voice actors and has done voice work for numerous movies. She’s worked on numerous Studio Ghibli works, played the characters of Duchess and Vanna in The Rugrats Movie, and voiced Minions in the Despicable Me movies.

She also appeared in the animated film Cats Don’t Dance, voicing a character called Darla. She had a small role in the film My Little Pony: The Movie, and played the character of Evelyn in the live-action movie Teen Witch.
