Although it’s one of the more mind-boggling things in the MMORPG, many current and returning players consider it one of the most enjoyable ways to gain EXP and gil. FF14 Fishing basics
Any strategy with fishing has a little bit of luck involved. There’s no telling what could happen in the ocean – it’s incredibly vast and many lands could be in your line of sight, or it could all be calm while fishing and you never have any catches. Although luck is involved, we’ve done a great deal of fishing and have some tips to increase your chances of catching something.
FF14 fishing is vast and has a lot of rules, at least at first. Perhaps one of your greatest worries would be how high of a level you need to be in order to unlock any given minigame. Well, I’m here to save the day and tell you that no minigame is unlocked until a certain level – the only one that needs a requirement is the crafting minigame. Can you fish in FFXIV at level 1?

An incredibly simple yes. However, in order to be able to catch anything of use, you’ll need to complete the quest, “My First Fishing Rod.” Make sure to do this quest before heading to the docks.
After the Ferry Docks are located, you’ll then want to learn about baits. The docks are very simple and straightforward. There is a Merchant and Mender NPC available upon your arrival to the docks, but these two NPCs serve a specific purpose.
