The Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo Fighters

The Kameo fighters in Mortal Kombat 1 are not just palette-swapped characters, but actual characters in their own right. This revelation comes from Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat and a veteran in the fighting game genre. Boon suggests that the Kameo system, which allows characters to be made up of anyone in the universe, including new characters, may extend beyond the Mortal Kombat cast to include guest characters as well. This possibility opens up exciting new opportunities for the game and its roster.

As of now, only a few Kameo fighters have been revealed, such as Kabal, Reptile, Cyrax, and Shazam, all of whom are returning Mortal Kombat veterans. However, more fighters are expected to be announced, as some were accidentally leaked alongside information about the first Kombat Pack.

Boon's statement to Warner Play Latino reflects his enthusiasm for the Kameo system, which he describes as the game's biggest feature. When asked about the possibility of new characters, Boon cryptically states, "We haven't even announced all the fighters, so absolutely anything can be expected." He then sheepishly adds, "And, yes, guest characters are being considered too."

It remains unclear whether the guest characters will appear in the first Kombat Pack, but it seems that new characters, Kameo fighters, and more will be introduced after the launch of Mortal Kombat 1. Boon explains that Kameo fighters, since they don't require a full moveset, provide the development team with more flexibility to create unique character configurations.

One potential guest character that has been suggested by Twitter user BruskPoet is Chucky, who would fit well as a Kameo fighter due to his small size. Another intriguing suggestion is Otto Van Hazard, a character from Mortal Kombat 9 and Geist, who fans would love to see as a Kameo fighter.

Mortal Kombat 1 is shaping up to be an incredible launch, with features such as an Arcade mode, an intense story mode, and even a Gauntlet to challenge players.
