Mortal Kombat 1 new character tease has fans hopeful
The first Kombat Kast for Mortal Kombat 1 may include a reveal for the upcoming fighting game, as developers tease a potential new character in the fighting game.
Mortal Kombat 1 players are eagerly awaiting the upcoming character reveals for the fighting game, following the confirmation of new Kombat Kast characters and Kameo fighters for the upcoming PC game. Now, developer teases regarding new characters in Mortal Kombat 1 have led to speculation regarding fan-favorite characters such as Rain.
The announcement of the first Kombat Kast for Mortal Kombat 1 is highly anticipated, given the inaugural Kombat Kast for the fighting game’s predecessor, Mortal Kombat 11, included the reveal of Kratos as a playable character. While developer NetherRealm Studios is known for its tendency to troll fans, the possibility of a full roster reveal for Mortal Kombat 1 at the first Kombat Kast has led to speculation regarding characters such as Rain.
Developer Ed Boon, known for his frequent tweets regarding ‘flavor text’ for characters in the game, hinted at a character reveal following a tweet mentioning a phone call from “Vicky,” leading some to suspect this is a reference to Rain. The fighter was designed around Prince, also known as ‘Vince,’ or ‘Vic,’ a stage name that Prince used early in his career.
While Boon has been known to troll his audience regarding new characters, fans are hopeful that Rain will indeed be included in the roster. Boon followed up his previous tweet with another, stating “it’s time,” although it is unclear if this is in reference to Rain.
Warner Bros. Games community manager Cory Taylor added to the new character tease by saying, “The new character reveal is gonna melt faces.” Some fans speculate this may refer to Reptile, a fan-favorite character known for spitting acid.
A previous roster leak for Mortal Kombat 1 mentioned Reptile, supporting the tease from Taylor, although the leak did not mention Rain as a playable character, suggesting he may be one of the game’s Kameo characters.
The anticipation for the character reveals has been trending, with Mortal Kombat fans eagerly awaiting the upcoming announcements.
Mortal Kombat 1 launches on PC May 9.
