Red Dead Redemption could be coming to the Steam Deck, if one Steam developer is to be believed. The FPS game could be ported to Valve’s portable PC as early as this year, and we’re already getting excited to play it using the Steam Deck’s built-in controls.

If you’re a PC gamer, you’ve probably heard of Red Dead Redemption. The Rockstar game is considered one of the best open-world games ever made, and many of us would love to play it on the go – something that’s not possible with a standard laptop or desktop.

Unfortunately, Red Dead Redemption isn’t available on Steam, but according to one developer, it could be coming to Valve’s portable soon.

“I know it’s not going to be cheap, but I’m actually really excited for Red Dead Redemption on Steam Deck,” one user replies to the above image. “It’s one of the few games I’d actually like to play on the go and can’t on a portable device.”

Another user mentions that Red Dead Redemption can already be played on Xbox consoles, but this doesn’t stop others from expressing their excitement.

Of course, a few people immediately point out that the game runs poorly on emulation compared to the original hardware, but that doesn’t stop others from jumping into a debate about handheld gaming devices and the Steam Deck’s capability.

“The Steam Deck isn’t a proper replacement for a native PC port,” one user points out, while others discuss the ROG handheld.

Personally, I’d take a handheld RDR over a native PC port any day, but that’s just my opinion.

One user praises the Steam Deck for its framerate and game compatibility, “I’ve tried Red Dead Redemption and other games on the Steam Deck, and it’s amazing. The framerate is incredible and it just works.”

“I’ll pass,” another user replies. “The price is too much for a $200 PC that doesn’t run all PC Games well.”

This comment leads to a discussion about the price of games on different platforms, with some users arguing that Nintendo games are expensive and have fewer sales. Others mention the availability of sales on the Switch and the competitive prices of Steam games.

Personally, I’d take a handheld RDR over a native PC port any day, but that’s just my opinion.

One user claims, “Steam Deck runs most games at 30fps,” which leads to a discussion about PC performance and why a $200 PC is better than Valve’s handheld.

“I am sure it’s not just fps games that don’t run well. I’ve seen screenshots of games running at 30fps that look like garbage,” one user replies, before recommending using external websites to find discounted games on different platforms.

Personally, I’m not sure why anyone would spend $200 on a PC that “doesn’t run well,” but that’s just my opinion.
