Red Dead Redemption is coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch, but the announcement trailer for the Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive port has disappointed fans as they were expecting a remaster or remake. Instead, the original game will be sold for $49.99/£39.99, which many players consider steep for a straight port with no graphical upgrades.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the best open-world games ever, but the port announcement may put some players off buying it again. Alongside the Undead Nightmare DLC and content from the Game of the Year Edition, Red Dead Redemption PS4 and Switch will feature multiplayer, but Rockstar has decided to strip this out.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best games on PS2030, and it’s frustrating that we’re not getting Red Dead Redemption on PC. Given that the game is 13 years old and would likely run well on current-generation PCs, the decision not to bring it to our platform is confusing.

Social media platforms, including the game’s subreddit, are buzzing with players expressing their anger at the news. In response to the official announcement trailer racking up thousands of dislikes and negative comments, players are urging others to boycott the game.

Here’s the official Red Dead Redemption PS4 and Switch port announcement trailer:

At the time of writing, the YouTube video has over 57,000 dislikes and just over 28,000 likes. The dislike ratio is 57k dislikes to 28k likes.

Players are expressing disappointment in Rockstar and their lack of trust in the company. “How is this real?” one player responds. “PC? Remastered? No, it’s just a straight port.” Others urge others to “boycott this game” and “don’t give Rockstar your money.”

Some players have compared this controversy to the GTA: The Trilogy debacle from a couple of years ago, where Rockstar said it would bring GTA 1, 2, and 3 to PC but then later said it was just a “mistake” and that the games wouldn’t be coming to our platform after all.

We’re still waiting for GTA 3 to come to PC though, so perhaps Rockstar will surprise us and bring Red Dead Redemption to our platform.

In the meantime, check out some of the other best western games around, and you might want to play the Red Dead Redemption 2 Horse Knots and Saddles Challenge, or you could try out some other great multiplayer games.
