Red Dead Redemption PS3 - Still Affordable
Red Dead Redemption PS3 can still be bought for less than $10, despite the new Rockstar port bringing the western to Sony’s current-gen console. While it’s true that the price was that low in 2010, and finding PS3 or Vita games in stores is becoming increasingly difficult, finding the Rockstar game in stores for $9 is still pretty special.
Some GameStop stores have brought back old-gen games, but others suggest checking smaller, independent game stores instead. There’s a new Red Dead port coming out that is being criticized for its high price, but some suggest that the original game will disappear with the release of the port.
“They’ll be gone before you know it,” one user says of Red Dead Redemption PS3 and Vita, “especially with the new port coming out.” Others express frustration over the GameStop sticker that has remained on the case for 13 years, while others miss buying complete editions pre-owned with all the DLC included.
There’s a sense of urgency to buy these games before they become even more scarce, although some do question why the original used copies would disappear when the port is released. “I mean, they’ll still work on PS3, right?” one user asks, while another replies, “It’s Rockstar, they won’t let it go nowhere.”
Despite the fact that many people still enjoy playing older games, there is also a lot of negativity in the comments. “Why would you pay for a 13-year-old game?” one user asks, while another replies, “Because it’s a good game.” The replies are mixed, and it’s difficult to tell whether the negativity is intentional or just a by-product of the internet.
“I’ve got Fable 1 on disc,” another user writes, “and I’ve been playing it since 2010.” “Play Fable 1,” replies another, “it’s good.” “I also still play the PS1 Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games,” another user adds, “because they’re awesome and affordable.”
The Red Dead announcement leads to discussions about its pricing and lack of enhancements. “$60 for a port?” one user asks, “I can buy a new game for that price.” Some argue that $9 is a good deal for a used game, while others believe it’s overpriced.
Availability of the game on different platforms and the inability to play it on PS5 sparks debate, with some pointing out that the Switch version is affordable for those without a PS3. Others question why you’d need a PS5 to play a 13-year-old game.
