Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is a star-studded game with an ambitious story that sees Grace befriend Greek gods and take on evil forces. With so many characters, and so many choices to make, it’s no surprise that Stray Gods has lasting consequences – but it turns out that not all of them are as permanent as they seem.

We’ve already taken a look at Stray Gods, and our review will be up soon, but one thing that struck me in my playthrough of the RPG game is that some characters you don’t pick in the First Act don’t warmly greet you when you meet again in the Second. Why would they do that, I thought, surely I couldn’t have had that much impact on their lives in just one or two hours?

Well, no, it turns out, because some of the choices you make in Stray Gods have no long-term impact at all, while others are more irreversible and deadly. Here are some of the major decisions in Stray Gods, and which ones actually matter.

Major Stray Gods choices

Decisions don’t just matter for the characters you pick, but also for how the story plays out. Some major decisions are made during musical numbers, changing the outcome of the songs themselves. Look for screen narrowing and black space to indicate the start of a song and a choice to make.

Grace’s nature trait, which you choose at the beginning of the game, affects dialogue options and the relationships you can build. Choosing too many answers of one trait in a song can limit future choices, but you can easily reset your decisions. Symbols next to dialogue choices denote traits, relationships, and progress.

Here are some major choices you can expect to make in Stray Gods:

There’s a lot more to Stray Gods than first meets the eye, and it’s impossible to see everything in one playthrough. Thankfully, there’s plenty of replay value in the star-studded game, with new things to discover in each playthrough.

You can ask questions before moving on in conversation to ensure you have all the information, and you can also use the “Load Game” option on the main menu to reload to change outcomes. However, we recommend replays in one sitting for the most authentic experience.
