The inclusion of Treasure Planet's John Silver as a card in the game is a great sign for its future. Despite being a box office bomb, Treasure Planet had an appealing character in John Silver, who was based on the well-written Long John Silver from Treasure Island. John Silver’s card in Disney Lorcana is excellent and has a unique ability that forces opponents into challenging situations.

Any card featuring John Silver is cause for celebration, and his presence in Disney Lorcana is a sign of things to come. Despite being a huge fan of Treasure Planet, I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting to see him appear in the card game anytime soon, if ever. John Silver is among the ten legendary rares in Disney Lorcana’s First Chapter, which is no small honor. His card is also excellent, and his ability is a great fit for the game.

John Silver is one of the oldest Disney characters to appear in the game so far, with appearances dating back to the early 1990s. While he’s often overlooked in favor of other Disney characters, John Silver is based on a character who is widely regarded as one of the best pirate characters ever written. This gives me hope that other characters like Jim Hawkins, Milo Thatch, Chicken Little, and Kenai from Disney’s “dark age” could appear in the future.

Disney Lorcana John Silver card analysis

John Silver’s card is one of the ten legendary rares in the set, which is a significant honor by itself. His ability to force opponents into challenging situations is excellent, and he could be a powerful card in the right deck. His limited card representation is a bit disappointing, but he’s a fan favorite and one of the main characters in the set, so I’m hopeful that more John Silver cards will be printed in the future.

It’s possible that John Silver’s inclusion is a mechanical choice due to his fitting character archetypes. It could also be a sign of exciting things to come. Other characters like Cinderella, Robin Hood, and Mulan also have limited card representation, so it’s too soon to draw conclusions based on card counts.

Overall, the First Chapter of Disney Lorcana opens up a world of possibilities. The game’s designers are willing to include characters beyond box office successes. Treasure Planet is a cult favorite, but its cast is still considered part of the official Disney canon. I’m very curious to see which other obscure films will be represented in future sets.

If you’re a fan of the underrated Disney films, you’re sure to enjoy Disney Lorcana. The game’s debut set featuring John Silver opens up the possibility of seeing more obscure Disney films represented in future sets.
