Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players build musical instruments

Tears of the Kingdom players are building musical instruments now in the game, using the Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel’s Zonai Stakes to play tunes with accuracy. The community has already created contraptions that strike the stakes to play a note, and then use other tools to make a little Music. Some of the designs posted on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit showcase the community’s ingenuity, and I can’t wait to see what else they come up with.

Player PlumbumStik has devised a machine that plays the opening of “Mary Had A Little Lamb” perfectly, using a series of gears, pulleys, and the Tears of the Kingdom Zonai Stakes. It’s a good tune, and they’ve made it even better by getting the instrument to play it.

Another player, SilentTone, has created a functional piano with seven different keys using Link as a counterweight. SilentTone says they’re looking to improve the design so it can play the full song, though the accuracy of the notes already impresses.

The community has already suggested ways to play songs like “Welcome to the Black Parade” and “Never Gonna Give You Up,” but it remains to be seen if they can pull these off. We’ve already seen that the creativity of Tears of the Kingdom players knows no bounds, and these musical inventions just add another dimension to an already incredible game beyond its traversal mechanics.
