The idea of a Dino Crisis remake

The idea of a Dino Crisis remake is floating around, and it’s absolutely blowing my mind. Dino Crisis, a classic from back when I was a kid and played games on my ‘99 PlayStation, is getting more love than Resident Evil. For those who haven’t played it, or don’t remember, Dino Crisis is the first game that combined the Resident Evil formula with the then new Survival Horror genre, and it’s absolutely incredible.

Honestly, it’s a little bit mind-blowing to me that there’s even a discussion about a potential Dino Crisis remake. It’s clearly one of the best horror games of all time, and the Resident Evil comparisons are more than fair. But that’s not what’s got me thinking; it’s the fact that many people are talking about it like it’s a forgotten gem, when Resident Evil got the remake treatment back in 2012 with Resident Evil 1 Remake.

Capcom has had its fair share of missteps in recent years, but the Japanese publisher has also really stepped up its game with recent releases like Resident Evil 2 Remake, Devil May Cry 5, and Onimusha Warlords. Resident Evil has been a huge hit for Capcom, and the series has seen several entries since the remake. But what about Dino Crisis?

Dino Crisis sold fewer copies with each sequel, which is why it may not be getting the same attention as Resident Evil. However, people are talking about the potential for a Dino Crisis 4, which is something I never would have thought possible before. So, I decided to ask some people what they think about a possible Dino Crisis remake.

What people think about a possible Dino Crisis remake

“Dino Crisis 2 was one of the best games I’ve ever played,” one user says. “I would definitely play a remake.”

“Dino Crisis 3 is the game that ruined the franchise,” another replies. “I would never want a remake for that.”

“I had nightmares about it as a kid,” another user replies when I post the GIF from Dino Crisis.

“Oooh, I actually played the third one. I was expecting something good from it, but it was just so bad,” another replies, sharing their favorite ending in the first two games and the lines that still haunt them.

“I would play a new one,” another replies. “I remember playing the second one, I’d be surprised if they did a new one, but I wouldn’t complain if they did.”

Another replies, “I wouldn’t mind a Dino Crisis 4, if they did it right.”

“There is so much nostalgia for games like this that I’d be down for any remaster or remake,” another replies. “Tenchu, Siphon Filter, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Musashi, The Legend of Dragoon.”

“Resident Evil needed a remake, but these other games are best left alone and remembered as they were,” another replies. “But if Capcom announced a remake of Dino Crisis in their RE Engine I would purchase a PlayStation 5 for it.”

“The love for these older games is incredible,” another replies. “Final Fantasy 8 has already been remastered but a full remake would be even better.”

“Mentioned Onimusha, Manhunt, Turok 2, Parasite Eve,” another replies.

If you’re one of the few people who played Dino Crisis and thought it was good, I hope this article gives you some solace. I have a lot of respect for the first game, as it really helped to pioneer the genre, but Resident Evil is just so much better. Maybe if there’s another Resident Evil title after Resident Evil 8, we’ll get a Dino Crisis 2 Remake.
