Mortal Kombat fans eagerly await the inclusion of Jade and Sonya in MK1

Mortal Kombat fans are eagerly awaiting the inclusion of Jade and Sonya in MK1, as co-creator Ed Boon answers questions about the two classic fighters on Twitter. Boon neither confirms nor denies their presence in the upcoming fighting game, leaving fans hopeful that the two iconic characters will join the main roster soon.

Long-standing fighters in the Mortal Kombat series, Jade and Sonya have only appeared as skins in Kameo so far, though Sonya at least is present in the Kombat Kast roster. Boon teases upcoming character reveals, and the next Kombat Kast event, which will apparently be featuring a character that fans have been waiting “years” to see.

“Everyone asking about Jade and Sonya,” Boon begins, “the next reveal video is coming soon, maybe within a week.” He goes on to reference upcoming character reveals, and the possibility of the next Kombat Kast being a “long one.”

Boon provides rather vague GIF responses to questions about characters like Sindel and Ashrah, but does say that answering roster questions would spoil the fun of reveal videos. He does, however, reference the song “Don’t Give Up” when discussing the possibility of Nitara’s inclusion.

The leaked roster from June, which featured Nitara, may still be in play; though it’s possible, Boon’s response could simply be a reference to the fact that Nitara’s inclusion might not be immediately obvious, as with characters like Kobra, Kabal, and Baraka.

Of course, fans are most concerned about Jade and Sonya, two characters who many thought were shoe-ins for the roster. Boon’s responses are frustratingly vague, but at least it seems there’s still hope.
