The Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack announcement

The Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack announcement is full of surprises, and it looks like one of the guest characters will be voiced by an Oscar winner. We knew that Takeda, Ermac, Quan-Chi, Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni-Man were coming to MK11, but we didn’t know who would be voicing them. Now, we at least know that Omni-Man will be voiced by J.K. Simmons, and it’s possible that John Cena and Anthony Starr will be back to voice Peacemaker and Homelander, respectively.

When asked about whether the guest characters would have their original voice actors, developer NetherRealm Studios said, “We cannot confirm or deny,” which led to speculation that they might not be returning. But now, NetherRealm Studios co-founder and chief design officer Ed Boon confirms that Simmons will be voicing Omni-Man, so it’s likely that he and the other actors will be back.

“Omni-Man will be voiced by J.K. Simmons!” Boon says. “I can say that with confidence.” You can watch the full trailer below.

NetherRealm Studios’ Dominic Cianciolo, who works as a director and designer on MK11, also expresses his excitement at directing the Oscar winner. “I’m so stinking excited to direct J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man,” he says.

This means that it’s likely that John Cena and Anthony Starr will also return to voice Peacemaker and Homelander, respectively. Omni-Man is the first character shown in the trailer and appears to be the first to be released, so it makes sense that his character is the furthest along in development.

Peacemaker and Homelander are expected to follow Omni-Man’s release, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for the other characters.

The trailer also features plenty of returning characters, such as Kung Lao, Reptile, Baraka, and Mileena, along with new additions like Gerhard and Scarlet. It’s currently trending on Twitter, and you can check out the full announcement below:

The addition of J.K. Simmons adds to the list of Oscar winners in Mortal Kombat games, alongside Angela Bassett in MK2 and Jeri Ryan in MK3.
