The Sovol SV07: Affordable and Beginner-Friendly 3D Printing

The Sovol SV07 brings Klipper Firmware to the masses, turning what was once a reliable, but niche 3D printer into an affordable and beginner-friendly device that offers the benefits of its high-speed, high-accuracy printing to a wider audience.

At $339, the Sovol SV07 is a steal. It’s a typical Cartesian style design, with a few bells and whistles thrown in for good measure. The 5-inch touchscreen display includes an easy-to-navigate interface and, of course, comes with Klipper firmware.

Other features include auto bed leveling, a PEI coated flex plate, and a direct drive with an all-metal hotend. As a bonus, you get a curtain fan for improved cooling during high-speed printing. The printer also includes a bonus, which is always a nice touch.

When it comes to speed, the Sovol SV07 is one of the fastest home 3D printers on the market. With pre-tuned input shaping, you should expect good performance out of the box, but the Klipper firmware allows speeds up to 500 mm/s. The default print speed settings are optimized for quality, with slower speeds for outer and inner walls. If you want to push the boundaries, the accelerometer is there to help you fine-tune your calibration.

The Sovol SV07 comes with all the necessary tools and accessories, including a spare nozzle, a USB stick, and an ADXL 345 accelerometer. It also has built-in Wi-Fi for remote file uploading, and uses the Fluidd interface on your computer. The printer is easy to assemble, with clear instructions provided in the manual.

Stylish and functional, the Sovol SV07 has a Robin’s Egg blue color that looks fantastic. The bed plate is a two-sided removable PEI-coated metal flex plate for easy print adhesion and removal. It also includes a tool drawer for storing all of your extruder nozzles and tools, and a pleasant blue light strip on the top of the printer for that all-important bed leveling.

The Klipper firmware is installed on an easy-to-use pad with a graphic interface that offers more control options than other 3D printers. The interface is simple to use, with clear instructions and notifications to guide you through the whole process.

With its dual Z-axis, direct drive, a metal PEI flex sheet, and an all-metal hotend, the Sovol SV07 is an efficient and reliable printer. The addition of Klipper firmware only serves to improve the overall printing experience, making it fast, accurate, and clog-free.
