The highly anticipated Borderlands Movie, based on the popular FPS game from 2004, has been mired in a prolonged period of post-production difficulties. Despite being in development for over three years, the film remains unreleased, and recent events suggest that progress may be far from satisfactory.

Renowned co-writer Craig Mazin, recognized for his work on HBO's The Last of Us, announced on Twitter that his name would no longer be associated with the Borderlands movie. This decision, coupled with the multiple directorial changes and involvement of ten different writers, raises concerns about the current state of the project.

Regarding the Borderlands movie, Mazin commented, "They decided to keep my credit, but I'm free to say I had nothing to do with the movie." This revelation may disappoint fans of the game, as it indicates that the film's progress remains shrouded in uncertainty.

The reshoots overseen by Tim Miller, known for his previous work on Deadpool 2 and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, also hint at internal issues. Miller's involvement in extensive additional photography suggests potential challenges behind the scenes. While it is possible that the Borderlands movie is quietly advancing, eager fans would greatly appreciate a release date or official update on its progress.

However, it is important to manage expectations, as Mazin clarified on Twitter that the Borderlands movie is not based on his script. Instead, it derives from a draft by Randall Frakes, the writer of Deadpool 2 and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Mazin added, "I'm not going to say anything more about it, but I just want to be clear that my version of the Borderlands movie was NOTHING like what they are making."

In the meantime, fans can explore other exceptional FPS games on PC or delve into the world of Borderlands 2 characters for an immersive experience. Eager fans eagerly await a release date or official update on the movie's progress.
