Raspberry Pi stock levels improving
It’s never been a better time to buy a Raspberry Pi, as the tiny computers are now staying in stock for hours rather than minutes, as the demand for the devices continues to outstrip supply. In a blog post, Raspberry Pi LTD’s CEO, Eben Upton, lays out his predictions for RPi stock levels going forward, and they largely match up with the latest Pi supply figures.
Upton’s predictions come after the latest Raspberry Pi 4 sales figures showed the latest models are still struggling to meet demand, with Q1 2023 seeing the lowest number of units shipped since 2015. However, this is largely due to the fact that Raspberry Pi 4 models are more readily available and selling at a slower rate, whereas the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W units are still harder to find.
As for Upton’s predictions, they’re largely in line with the latest Raspberry Pi production figures. The Pi 4 models make up a significant portion of the units produced, and the Compute Module 4 production data is still unavailable. That said, you’ll now find recent stock availability at The Pi Hut and Pishop using RPiLocator, which is the tool we use to find the best Raspberry Pi models.
The Pi Hut and Pishop both have recent Raspberry Pi 4 stock.
Raspberry Pi 4 stock availability in the US
Raspberry Pi Zero W stock availability in the UK
It looks like the Raspberry Pi 4 models are staying in stock for longer in the US, whereas the Raspberry Pi Zero W is still difficult to find in the UK. It’s definitely a great time to buy a Raspberry Pi, as they’re staying in stock for longer.
If you’re looking to buy a Raspberry Pi, RPiLocator, approved resellers, and Amazon are all good places to start. Just keep in mind that the Amazon prices will be higher than the MSRP, but it does offer the convenience of one-click purchasing and international shipping if you need it.
