The Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1 PC version won’t have mouse and keyboard support, which is a little surprising considering the earlier PC versions of MGS did support keyboard controls. Now, it looks like Konami is listening to fan feedback and will add the feature to the collection.

The Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1 trailer shows the key PlayStation games in the series being remastered for the next generation, but there’s one glaring omission from the PC version – mouse and keyboard controls. Initially, the PC game stated that it wouldn’t have mouse and keyboard support, which is a bit odd considering the collection is coming to consoles as well.

In response to fan feedback, Konami says that it is aware of the feature’s absence and that it is something the team is considering. “We’ve seen the feedback regarding keyboard and mouse support for the collection, and it’s a larger discussion that we’re considering but the focus of the team right now is on the controller,” Konami’s brand marketing director Ben Kinney says.

However, it looks like fan reaction has prompted the development team to look into mouse and keyboard support after all. Another senior brand manager, Céline Combelles, says that “due to fan reaction, the dev team is now looking to include M+K support for all the games in the collection.” The initial aim is for Metal Gear Solid and the earlier 2D titles to feature keyboard support, while MGS2 should have keyboard and limited mouse support, though the details are unclear.

MGS3 will have full support for both keyboard and mouse, although again it’s unclear exactly which features will be supported. Combelles says that this is still a work-in-progress, but it’s good to see that Konami is listening to fan feedback and responding to it – even if it’s a little later than some would like.

The Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1 release date is October 24, 2023. Hopefully, Vol. 2 won’t be too far behind, and we might even see a remastered MGS3 on PC too. Check out some of our other favorite Metal Gear Solid games while you wait.
